A Mellow Senior

About Gretchen

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: D160049
  • General Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn with White
  • Declawed: No
  • Housetrained: Yes

Gretchen is a 10 year old Boxer girl who is mellow, quiet, and as sweet as you will ever find! She has nice boxer markings on her face with white flash on her nose and neck. Her tailed is docked, not our doing, of course. She weighs about 45 pounds. Gretchen lived her life in Kentucky where she was never spayed. She was chained up outside the house and spent her life having litter after litter, right up to a litter as recent as this June. Her negligent family took EVERY litter to the local pound. This last time, the volunteers at the shelter convinced them to surrender Gretchen, also. All of her pups were extremely thin. Gretchen is a nice dog who would do well with an older person as well as a family with kids. We have put her on a diet of high quality food. She looks beautiful. She will not be available immediately but we will take applications For when she is ready. She is crate trained and house trained. She really doesn't need a crate but if you want to use one when you are away, until you get to know her better, she won't complain.  Gretchen has a scar on her left shoulder and neck from a previous injury. Our vet feels she may have been attacked. We don't feel that hair will grow back there.

Update: Gretchen has tested positive for heart worm. She has been treated and now must be relatively calm with no running or playing until about December 1. After that, she gets her life back and can be adopted. If you would love to make her one of your family, please apply now anyway. She should will be so happy to start her new life with you.

If interested in Gretchen, please complete the application at betterdaysarecominginc.org. Her adoption fee is $150.00. A home visit and a reference, including a vet check will be needed to complete the application process. We are looking for a wonderful home for her. If you have any questions, feel free to call or text Margaret at 716-480-4357 or email maspittler75@aol.com. Thank you.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in any of our dogs, please fill out an application. An interested adopter with a  tentatively approved application always takes precedence over someone who calls or emails us. You will not be obligated to adopt if you fill out an application. However, it shows us you are serious and we can check that you sound like a good fit for that particular dog.

**We are raising $ through a YOUCARE fundraiser. Won't you please help? You can also go to paypal at the website listed below. Thank you!!! you fill out an application and get an error message, scroll back to the top to see what caused the error. In most cases, people  left an item blank. You must write something for every item, even if it is n/a.
